As I was praying about my article for the June CrossRoads Newsletter, several things came to mind. The Mission to West Virginia, Father’s Day and Vacation Bible School all take place this month. The Mission is June 9th-14th; Father’s Day is June 16th, and VBS is June 24th-27th. I debated which event to write about, or if I should write about any of them?
Each of these will affect each of us in different ways:
Some of us will actually be going on the mission, while others pray and support financially.
Some will celebrate Father’s Day as dads and/or with their dads, while others of us will lovingly remember our dads who have gone home to be with Jesus.
Some of us will serve in the thick of VBS hubbub and activity, while others pray and help the church get ready for the week .
The Christian journey was never meant to be experienced in exactly the same way by every person. The journey will be different for every single one of us. The Apostle Paul understood this and wrote to the church in Corinth, “So… whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV) Also, to the Colossians, Paul wrote, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17 NIV)
This is my prayer for each of us in whatever we’re involved in or however we’re involved: That we do it ALL in the name of Jesus for the glory of God!
