“Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” -Galatians 6: 8,9 NIV-
I believe these two verses can appropriately be applied to the Lent Season. April 1st marks 27 days into Lent. I’m praying that this time of sacrifice, of letting God examine our hearts, and of reflection on Jesus’ sacrifice for our salvation is proving productive and worthwhile. I’m praying it’s drawing us closer to Jesus and making us more like Jesus.
For those who take it seriously, observing Lent is difficult. But the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Galatians reminds us that “…sowing to please the Spirit…” is worth it. The next 19 days before Easter will pass quickly and bring us to the greatest of all Christian celebrations…the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection! Being faithful through Lent prepares the way to celebrate Easter with great joy for what God has done, what God is doing and what God’s going to do in the days ahead!
May these verses encourage us to press on to complete what we’ve committed to during Lent!
