Isaiah 40: 3-6 “A voice of one calling: ‘In the desert prepare the way for the Lord, make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all humankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.'”
It is evident when a couple prepares and waits expectantly to celebrate their wedding day. Their joy and gladness are unmistakable. It is evident when a family prepares and waits expectantly to take a special vacation. Their anticipation and hope for a great time is undeniable. The same can be said about Advent and Christmas. It is evident when we sincerely observe Advent…that is, when we prepare and wait expectantly for Jesus’ arrival, celebrating Christmas is much more meaningful. We become more mindful of God’s great, glorious gifts and prepare ourselves to grow deeper and richer in our relationship with Him-richer in HOPE through God’s presence, richer in PEACE through God’s comfort, richer in JOY through God’s good news, richer in God’s LOVE and richer in God’s LIGHT to guide our way at all times.
As we enter the Advent season, may our mission statement -“Preparing the way for God to change lives…” -come home personally to each one of us. May we prepare the way for God to change our hearts and lives this Christmas and forever!
Joy in Jesus!
